Brandy is the owner and President of Sunland Group. She leads a team of professionals providing civil engineering, architecture, program and project management services with an emphasis on innovative and effective project controls for an array of clients including the City of Houston, Dallas Area Rapid Transit, Austin Bergstrom International Airport, Denver International Airport, VIA Metropolitan Transit and the City of Austin.
Brandy holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, University of Houston and she is a Texas-registered Professional Engineer with over ten years of experience in civil engineering and project management.
As the President of Sunland, Brandy is responsible for selecting, supplying and dedicating both talent and resources to Sunland’s clients, as well as managing the company’s operations, marketing and financial controls.
Ben has more than 34 years of experience in the areas of project management, construction management, facilities studies, value engineering, feasibility studies, economic analysis, project controls, and life-cycle costing. He has provided project management services on numerous airport, light rail, building, technology, industrial, laboratory, and military projects.
Ben has worked on projects for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), George Bush Intercontinental Airport Houston (IAH), Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA), San Antonio International Airport (SAIA), Denver International Airport (DEN), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), LaGuardia Airport (LGA), Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac), and Logan International Airport (BOS), among many others.
Ben is the author and copyright-holder for the Total Integrated Project Software Systems (TIPSS) and is the co-author and managing partner of ACCESS (Automated Construction Cost Estimating Software Systems).
Ben is also a decorated combat Vietnam Veteran who served in the 173rd Airborne (1970-1971). After leaving active duty, he held commissions in both the U.S. Army and the Texas Army National Guard and is a lifetime member of the Texas National Guard Association.
Brian has 38 years of experience in the areas of architecture, project management, and general construction for both the public and private sector.
Brian holds a Masters of Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington, Texas, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma.
He is a registered architect in Texas and Colorado.
Brian was a contributing author for the June 2001 Edition of “Recommended Security Guidelines for Airport Planning, Design and Construction.”
He has completed projects varying in scope from multifaceted aviation design and construction to commercial and residential development and construction.
His public sector projects over the last 10 years add up to over $300 million and include in excess of two million square feet.
His experience includes projects at various airports across the U.S., specifically the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA).
In addition, Brian has provided architectural services to extensive transportation and higher education projects across Texas.
Wendy Pearce has more than 14 years of experience in accounting, with eight years in the architectural and engineering (A/E) industry as an employee of the Sunland Group. She oversees payroll, prepares financial reports and analyses, manages invoices and administrative contracts, and writes the company’s policies and procedures. She is the firm’s Office Manager, Treasurer and is on the Board of Directors. She is proficient in QuickBooks, AssetKeeper, Excel, Access, Microsoft Word, and Cardscan, and is familiar with many other software programs.
Jon has over 18 years of experience in cost estimating, pre-construction management, construction engineering, and project management. Jon is experienced in maintaining current/historical cost data in order to develop various needed data analyses. He specializes in coordinating and directing multiple project-based efforts while managing, motivating, and leading project teams. He is a skilled communicator with demonstrated excellence in quality processes, negotiations, and budget management.
Wilson has over 20 years of experience in the Information Technology industry with innovative and efficient use of technology and resources. Wilson manages full project lifecycle (software and infrastructure) from requirements gathering to final implementation and customer training. He designs and rolls out project controls software packages and systems integration projects. He manages technology projects on the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) providing a unique insight into the “do’s and don’ts” during project set-up. In addition, Wilson is responsible for the purchase, maintenance and accountability of all technology solutions, including phone, data (wired and wireless) and remote access solutions throughout Sunland’s regional offices.
Joel has been the engineer of record on jobs throughout Texas. Large projects ranging from Baylor Scott & White regional hospitals in Temple, College Station and Marble Falls to the University of Texas in Austin. Other recent projects have ranged from Bee Cave daycare to Hutto Industrial to Cedar Park commercial projects. Additional site plans have been for various CVS Pharmacy’s to Hilton Home2 Suites to numerous student housing jobs in San Marcos. His specialties are wide ranging and include Edwards Aquifer plans with the TCEQ, School and Single Family Home septic system design up to 5,000 gpd, rainwater reuse systems and landscape irrigation.
Meg is an Austin resident who offers over 13 years of experience in architecture for both the public and private sector. Completed projects vary in scope from educational facility design and construction (including, but not limited to, school buildings, sports stadiums, performing arts centers and network operation centers) to commercial and residential design and construction.
Lynne is a highly qualified administrative professional with proven capabilities to manage contracts ensuring compliance. She reviews, reports and resolves areas of non-compliance and assists in completing status reports for management. She also processes close-out documents at conclusion. Her professional services at the Denver International Airport began in 1990 as administrative assistant to companies such as AECOM, DMJM Aviation, and Greiner.
Helen has over four years of architectural experience with a wide range of responsibilities in design, construction documents, BIM coordination, construction administration, programming and marketing. Her project experience includes areas such as retail, commercial, institutional, healthcare, residential as well as interior. She is highly proficient in REVIT (5 years), AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D Modeling, Renderings, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Robert has over 32 years of experience in project management, design, construction contract management and specification writing for commercial, hospitality, government, military and educational projects. He is knowledgeable in construction contract law, CSI Manual of Practice, ICC Building Code requirements and ADA standards as well as LEED design, specifications and construction practices.
Stuart is a chief estimator, project manager, scheduler, and inspector for Sunland. He has over 19 years of experience in cost estimating, project and contract administration, project controls, document controls, and contractor relations. He has worked on various types of projects, including roadway and water/wastewater facilities and systems; parks and recreation centers; bus transit and maintenance facilities; office complexes; Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) 34/35 facilities assessments; multi-family residential complexes; college residence halls; and airport terminal and security projects. Stuart has worked for various local entities, city, county and state department and several federal agencies.
Mr. Michael Copeland has over 27 years of experience in HVAC piping, plumbing, and construction of HVAC systems, in addition to construction inspection. He possesses a vast knowledge of construction industry best practices and standards. His experience encompasses performing material take-offs, field lay-outs, overseeing field crews, scheduling field equipment, pipe assembly, and pump and cooling tower installation. He has served as piping superintendent, field foreman, pipefitter, construction inspector, and HVAC/plumbing inspector and estimator. He is skilled with Freon piping systems and HVAC hydronics.
As a licensed Master Plumber working for a local Mechanical contractor for 25 years, Mr. Copeland brings his knowledge and experience to the team as he is very familiar with the San Antonio Independent School Districts campuses, as he performed installation of mechanical and plumbing equipment at (4) High Schools, (6) middle schools and (14) elementary schools. His work consisted of Chill Water Systems designs with installation of hydronic piping, pumps, fan coil units, expansion tanks, air separator tanks, boilers, vav’s, control valves and controls. He also is installed Freon Roof top units (RTU), and as s a license plumber installed backflow preventers and set plumbing fixtures.
