CapMetro is planning to implement a second track along its Central Subdivision (Red Line) from east of Navasota Street to East Timbes through the Plaza Saltillo Station, and up to the two-track segment just west of Austin Junction near Robert T Martinez Jr. Street. The project also includes adjustments to 5th Street and cross streets as well as drainage, utility, and wayside signals/positive train control (PTC) efforts.
