CapMetro Project Connect – Blue Line Engineering Design Services

Project Connect – Blue Line Engineering Design Services

The purpose of the work plan was to advance the implementation of the Blue Line high-capacity transit (HCT) Corridor, an approximately 15-mile corridor connecting Austin Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and the Austin Convention Center. The Blue Line Corridor is prominent in current development trends and place-making opportunities in the South-Central Waterfront, Lakeshore District, Pleasant Valley, and Montopolis areas along East Riverside Drive. A crossing of Lady Bird Lake in Downtown Austin is also a major corridor element.

Sunland provided cost estimates for complete cut and cover tunneling through downtown along 4th Street from Colorado to Trinity, turning south and surfacing at Lady Bird Lake, crossing over Lady Bird Lake, and then running at street level to Riverside Drive, turning east then heading down Riverside drive crossing IH35, US71, and US183, then turning northeast to align with US71 East, then going to elevated guide way to AUS.
